National Trail Day at Mountain Lake Lodge!

About 2 week(s) ago by Mountain Lake Lodge

We know that you're always looking for the next great trail and Mountain Lake has so many to choose from how can you ever decide? Well we have the answers! From the most popular trails to our staff favorites, we're sure you'll find a new favorite to explore.

Bald Knob:

This trail starts out right behind the Main Stone Lodge and is a fan favorite for so many reasons! The beginning of this trail is where you can find one of the Dirty Dancing Film markers and we have a replica of the log "Baby" danced across on the trail. Once you move past this piece of our history, you have a ½ mile uphill hike to the top, the views from the top are simply breath-taking and make the trek completely worth it! You need to bring your camera to capture it.

Indian Trail - The Personal Favorite of Lyndsi, our Director of Sales & Catering

This trail starts down by the Dock (to the right of the Gazebo) and gives you the rare opportunity to hike around the lake bed and actually stand where Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did The Lift in Dirty Dancing without getting wet! This mile and a half trail is the best shaded trail to look at the beautiful landscape, you will find yourself under a canopy of leaves where the sun peaks through and makes for stunning pictures! Continuing on the trail as you navigate the terrain and take in nature's beauty, you will walk across a wooden bridge and hear all of the natural springs continually feeding the Lake - it's incredible to experience nature's true wonder this way and see it for yourself!

About half way through the trail, you will have a quick peak through the trees, overlooking the lake at the hotel and it's stunning to see the Main Stone Lodge nestled up against the mountain.

Lower Jungle Trail - The Personal Favorite of Jeremiah, the Director of Recreation

Starting behind Mary's Barn this half-mile hike winds you through the woods to our Adventure Center, it's no wonder its Jeremiah's favorite. He's been known to call it "the path to Adventure", check out all the fun activities available at the Adventure Center by clicking here!  This is also a great trail for the whole family to enjoy, it's smoother gravel path and gentle slopes up and down hill mean everyone can enjoy all nature can offer along this path.

The Lower Jungle Trail is also known as our Fitness Trail and offers 6 different stops along the trail from simple stretches to a pull-up station, so you can enjoy that dinner at Harvest without any guilt! As you come to the end of the trail you get to glimpse our Adventure Center through the trees and catch Bigfoot out in the open.

We can't wait for you to explore all we have to offer! Don't forget to tag us in your photos, you might be featured next!
